PICK & PLACE DOWNLAYER

Pick & Place Downlayers

The Pick & Place Downlayer is designed to remove slit mults off the coil holder without the use of a pusher plate. The unit can operate in the manual mode or automatically by programming individual mult widths into the system PLC, thus eliminating the need for a full time operator. The Pick & Place Downlayer prevents marking and telescoping of the coil I.D.'s caused by pushing coils onto a stationary style Downlayer.

Pick & Place operation tilts up 90 degrees, then travels towards coil on the coil holder. Once, at the coil, the horn travels out the width of the coil and lifts the coil off the coil holder arm. The unit travels back to the starting point, tilts 90 degrees to horizontal, and the horn retracts. The coil travels off the downlayer, either in line or at a right angle to the coil holder.

STATIONARY DOWNLAYER

Stationary Downlayers

Stationary Downlayers require the coil holder to be equipped with a pusher unit. This pusher unit pushes all the coils, on the coil holder arm until the first coil is on the Downlayer horn. Limited to manual operations that require constant operator attention during downlaying. Moving all coils at once tends to be a slow and tedious process, also is unforgiving if the operator makes a mistake during the push off process.

Stationary Downlayers operate by remaining in one fixed position. The downlayer tilts up 90 degrees and the horn is extended to full stroke to match the coil holder arm. The pusher plate pushes until the first coil is pushed onto the downlayer horn. The horn is retracted until the coil is against the downlayer conveyor rolls. Then the downlayer tilts down to the horizontal position. The coil travels off the downlayer, either in line or at a right angle to the coil holder.
